There are moments in life when you find yourself standing somewhere, utterly mesmerized, and you just have to take a breath to truly appreciate the beauty around you. This was exactly how I felt stepping into the Mercure Warwickshire Walton Hall Hotel & Spa for the VOX Voice-Over Conference. As someone who’s been in this industry for 25 years, attending countless conferences and events, I have never been to a venue as breathtaking as this one.
My journey to Warwick began with a train ride from London—a nearly two-hour trip that gave me time to take in the gorgeous English countryside. Rolling green hills, picturesque villages, and a sense of calm filled the journey. And if that wasn’t enough, I found myself seated next to a professional NASCAR driver. We exchanged stories, and it was one of those unexpected encounters that adds a layer of magic to an already extraordinary trip.
Upon arriving just outside of Warwick, I stopped for coffee at the charming Enchanted Tea Room, a local gem that felt like stepping into another world.
The warmth of the staff and the coziness of the space immediately put me at ease, and I met some incredibly kind people there. Sipping my coffee, I couldn’t help but feel that this trip was something special, and I hadn’t even made it to the conference yet!
Nestled just outside of Warwick, UK, Walton Hall feels like stepping into a dream. The elegance of the architecture, the lushness of the grounds, and the sheer peaceful energy this place emanates is nothing short of awe-inspiring. I’ve seen my share of venues, but walking up to the stately halls and pristine gardens made me feel like I’d been transported into a fairytale.
Beyond the beautiful surroundings, though, was the real heart of this experience—the VOX Conference itself. Unlike larger, more overwhelming events, VOX stood out because of its intimacy. It was small, focused, and full of great people who genuinely care about the craft and the industry. The conversations were deep, meaningful, and relevant to the times we find ourselves in. The topics covered, like the rise of AI in voice acting and how to stay relevant in these uncertain times, struck a chord with every one of us.
I walked away from each panel with more clarity, more inspiration, and a sense of renewed purpose. The discussions weren’t just theoretical—they were full of practical insights, real talk about how to adapt, and a shared understanding that while the industry is evolving, there’s still so much opportunity for growth.
And let’s not forget the spa! Yes, you read that right – a full-service spa, perfect for unwinding after an exhilarating day of connecting with peers, learning from industry leaders, and being part of this vibrant voice-over community. Trust me, I’m already planning to indulge in that spa experience before this trip is over.
The energy at VOX this year was electric. There’s a palpable excitement as we gathered to celebrate this ever-evolving art form that is voice acting. From intimate chats with fellow creatives to captivating panels that sparked new ideas, this conference is exactly the creative boost I needed.
In all my years, I have never experienced anything quite like this – the magic of the venue combined with the passion of our industry. This place, this moment – it feels like a new chapter is unfolding. Whether it's the enchanting surroundings or the incredible talent gathered here, I’m walking away from VOX feeling energized, renewed, and ready for whatever’s next.
Stay tuned for more insights as this magical weekend unfolds. But for now, I think that spa is calling my name!
